CLAIRE SIPOS

Ethereal

adjective

ethe·re·al | \ i-ˈthir-ē-əl  \

1: of or relating to the regions beyond the earth

celestial, heavenly, unworldly, spiritual

2: lacking material substance

immaterial, intangible

Ethereal is a digital collage series that depicts familiar yet surreal, other worldly islands comprised of textures, shapes, and colors found in various landscapes. Natural elements are deconstructed and warped with the intent to challenge the way landscapes are typically captured as photographers. Foreground, middle ground, background, and horizon line are blended together to create something intriguing and mystical. This project is a means to ponder and experiment with how we view the world around us. Nature is lush with opportunities to get curious, dig deeper, and imagine what else could be possible.
