Fantasy Inspirations

Fantasy Inspirations

Fantasy Inspirations is inspired by inspiration itself. This series is designed to relate the connection between the original thought and the final constructed product of a drag look. Drag outfit concepts begin with simple or complex ideas gathered from the artist’s perception of their daily lives. Queens and Kings incorporate their ideas into high fashion or visually striking costumes intended to entertain.

A visual message sometimes speaks louder than a verbal statement. Shock value stirs personal interpretation of a message and is often more resounding than flat conversation.

I have always been drawn to costume culture because of the way that expressing ideas through clothing has an impact on society. Onlookers are awestruck when they encounter someone dressed out of place, and it inspires them to follow suit and “dress to express.”

The Queens and King I have asked to participate are inspired by varying concepts. Each model was drawn to different styles and ideas by their personal life journeys and self expression. The art of constructing an alternative identity with a message is what keeps drag timeless and exciting.
