Blossom

It is finally springtime, a time of rebirth, growth, and change. It is always beautiful watching the process of nature here in Flagstaff. Seeing the trees stripped of their leaves, and grass turning brown over winter, just for it to all come back in a few months. Flagstaff becomes bright and beautiful during the warmer months, but is gray and dismal through the cold.

For the last few years now I have been stuck in the biggest rut of my life. Graduation is in just a couple weeks, and I will have to move on from the life I have known the last four years. This is a scary thought, especially with how lost I have been. This last year I have been paying more attention to the process Earth goes through every year with the seasons. I have been trying to find inspiration in this, reminding myself that no matter how dark and cold things can be, the process of nature allows us to bloom again.

That is where the idea for this project came in. I wanted to work on something that would remind myself of how it is possible to change this place I have been in. I wanted to take my gorgeous models, and apply this concept of blooming through photoshop. I had seen this photoshop style done before, but a new image from Ashley Marié (@AshleyMarieFoto) hit me strongly. Her image was a huge inspiration for this project.

Working on this has helped me start the process of change. With every flower I placed, I felt stronger about my ability to change and find my own way to blossom again.
