CARYNN MEYERS
I love spending time outdoors - hiking, camping, and exploring new places. But my favorite part has always been stumbling across wild animals. For me, nothing is more thrilling or exciting. As a kid, whenever I was fortunate enough to come across something I could catch, like a little snake or praying mantis, I was allowed to keep it for three days in my Critter Condo - a small plastic terrarium in my room. These days, I’ve upgraded my terrarium to a memory card, where I can capture all kinds of animals and keep them forever.
For this project, I chose to photograph animals that call northern Arizona home, including some of the more common ones that often go under-appreciated, yet play important roles in our ecosystem. My hope is that these portraits will evoke passion for the beautiful wildlife we share this incredible state with.
