Exploration of Northern Arizona
When I first came up to Northern Arizona University, I was taken away by the views that were all around me. With the sights of the landscapes and the sights that downtown had to offer, I knew that photography was my focus. To capture the surrounding beauty not just the scenery of the trees but also the historic buildings that everywhere in Northern Arizona has to offer. Photographing people in these locations show that there is much to see and much for people to explore around Northern Arizona.
This series is about how there are many places that people would love to explore. The places that were explored were Fatman’s Loop, downtown Flagstaff, and both downtown Sedona and some lookout places in Sedona. When photographing these places, I wanted to capture not just the subjects I wanted to capture the locations that would be seen by tourists and places where people would take their own photos as well. The photos show a little bit of what each place has to offer and have the viewer see the bigger picture of what Northern Arizona has to offer for everyone. Exploration photography was decided for this series to show the world around without the use of technology and just take in the beauty of everything. I went with urban and rural exploration to show both the scenery and the history that places have to show. Flagstaff and Sedona when going downtown have places that are local businesses and places that are true to the culture that surrounds both of them. Hence why showing the landscape of places around the area should be included. I wanted to capture that yes there is a small little town here but there is more to see outside the towns.
