MARC AMAYA

MARC AMAYA
Aguiar Farms

I’ve always been someone who likes to see the brighter side of everything. As a photographer, my goal is to always encapsulate that into my pictures. I love colorful, I love happy, I love bright, and I love beauty. With this project, my goal was to capture all those elements into each frame. My main subject for this project is Fernando, a farmer in Paulden, AZ who alongside his wife and kids is known as “Aguiar Farms.” Fernando started farming at the age of 4 years old. By the time he was 18 his only dream in life was to save up enough money to buy his very own tractor. And now at 57 years old he aspires to keep farming for as long as his body will allow him. He fell in love with farming, he found being out in the field growing and caring for vegetation relaxing. When he migrated to the United States, he had quite literally nothing but now he owns over 26 acres of land, a successful business and a self-built beautiful brick home that he made for his wife and kids. The happiness that his job brings him and how proud he is of all he’s accomplished shines through and ties in perfectly with the kind of images I aspire to capture. I am so honored to be the one to share his story and bring a little more awareness and importance to supporting small, local farmers.
