Design and Photography. Two individual, but also collaborative, industries that are often the backbone of many marketing firms and companies. While we all like to know what a company is about through information, visual elements like design and photography have become more and more important in a world of social media and printed ads. I have always had a passion for the arts; however, it wasn’t until college that I really started to understand that digital forms of art and design were my passions. The “All About Food” book series is a combination of my own design and photography work. It is a set that is designed to have an elegant, but simple look. While the photos shine, the design work takes a back seat and provides support to the photos in order to compliment them.
One of the primary reasons I chose this project and process of creation is because I want to create work that I can use to show both my skills as a graphic designer and photographer at the same time. I originally started only as a Visual Communication major, but decided to add Photography as a major later on in my studies. I have always liked to take pictures, but never thought of myself becoming a full time photographer. Being a graphic designer with also the skills and thought process of a photographer goes a long way and is a way for me to blend my two passions
