Hi, I'm Caitlyn Anderson!
My name is Caitlyn Anderson and I am a photojournalist. As such, I strive to tell each story through photos with as much authenticity and raw emotion as possible. Keeping on theme with my passion for visual storytelling, I've chosen a journalistic style for my final project here at NAU.
My Capstone is a photo and audio documentary that tells the stories of survivors of domestic abuse. My main goal with this project is to provide survivors with the opportunity to tell their stories and thus return the voices that were taken from them.
When I was deciding on a topic, I knew I wanted it to be related to documentary photography or photojournalism but beyond that, I was at a loss. I turned to thinking about my own experiences and issues that I hold close to my heart. I realized that I have the opportunity to give a voice to other people who have been silenced, to bring light to a cause that is continually pushed into the shadows, and to hopefully demonstrate to other survivors that they aren’t alone and there is a way out.
