My name is Rowan Lantz, and I have been fascinated by Macro Photography since I’ve started my photography career. And so to explore this interest more, I decided to push my limits and do a more extreme close up form of macro photography to explore the relationship between detail and photography.
I’ve always been interested in the idea of smaller details and seeing the hidden surprises that are within objects, and I know that Macro photography tends to get a reputation for being simplistic. My goal is to show that Macro can be an art form and bring my excitement for this style of photography into my pictures.
Macro photography is extremely manual and hands on, and the closer you get the more detail and the more sensitive the equipment becomes. There is a lot you can learn from simply using manual settings and looking deeper into your ordinary objects.
