Hi, I'm Jeff Chow
As a photographer that has been studying all the various techniques and skills over the past few years at Northern Arizona University, I have pushed myself to the edge of my knowledge in order to grow and improve as a artist and human. In order to further explore the art that I love I realized the need to explore the art in its most basic form. For this project I got myself a monochromatic camera, basically a camera without the bayer filter so that it cannot process color, but only light. This forced me to only shoot in black and white, and with no other choices available it caused me to see the world and photography in a different way. It's hard to describe how or in what way, but in my opinion it is a unique perspective that cannot be seen with color. Despite not having as much information embedded in a black and white photo, it is still able to create a story with more emotion and thought compared to a color photo.
